Wonderful Fall Show and December Plans!
Southern Oregon Sound Chorus had a great show "Fa-La-La Into The Holidays" on November 9th at Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford, Oregon!  We sang songs from our regular repertoire for the first half of the show and then holiday music for the second half.  We were joined by our own Passin' Notes Quartet and the men of Rogue Voices.  We also sang a couple of SATB songs with Rogue Voices which were a blast.  There were wonderful refreshments at intermission and 35 awesome raffle items to buy tickets for, including a gorgeous handmade quilt donated from our own Kim Clark, a $200 gift basket from Harry and David, a 2-night stay at Crater Lake RV Park, wine baskets, original watercolor paintings, handmade wood crafts, many many gift cards and certificates and much more!

December 8th will have us caroling on the main street of Ashland to entertain holiday shoppers and December 14th we will be singing at five local retirement homes along with Rogue Voices.  A holiday party will follow at a local restaurant.  Then we'll be dark until January 7, 2025 when we hope to recruit even more new members and learn some new music.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Sing Anthem at Medford Rogues Baseball Game
We had a blast on June 11th when Southern Oregon Sound Chorus sang the national anthem at the Medford Rogues baseball game!  Fourteen chorus members participated.  We wore bluejeans, red or dark blue tops and red, white and blue flag scarves and bows.  This was the first ‘performance’ for many of our newer members and we all had fun.  We got many positive comments from the crowd afterwards as well.  Assistant Director Kim Clark and long-time member Rose Barr were even invited to watch the game from special La-Z-Boy recliners where they got a free drink as well!  Even Rowdy, the Rogues mascot, stepped in for a photo op.  We’re set to sing at the ballpark again on June 25th and we’re all looking forward to it.

Fun Performance at the Moose Lodge!
We had our first performance tonight (Feb 24th) with Bill as our Director. We were invited to sing at the Moose Lodge Sweetheart Dinner in Shady Cove. Eight of us were available to perform: Mona, Linda B., Jean, Jancy, Kim, Rose, Pam and many thanks to Summer for filling in on Tenor for us. It went very well! They gave us a lovely dinner first and then we sang 5 songs for them which were very well received. They even passed a tip jar which provided us with a surprise donation!

We'll be having our first Music Team meeting this week with Bill where we'll decide what music to work on next and brainstorm future performance ideas. With more ladies intending to join the chorus soon we're on our way!!  It's so exciting to finally see Southern Orebon Sound Chorus starting to grow again and move forward.

NEXT REHEARSAL JULY 11TH!

NEXT REHEARSAL JULY 11TH!

Our 2nd rehearsal on June 27th had a former member, Gail Rosenberg, join us and she's going to re-join the chorus after sitting out during the pandemic.  So great to have her lovely lead voice with us once again.  We also had a guest, Marion Simas, who immediately decided to join as a member too!  Marion is another great lead voice to add to our ranks.  Here's hoping we get more returning and new singers in the next few weeks so we can move back to our regular rehearsal venue.

Kim got more practice of her directing skills as she works to complete the DCP program.  We're lucky that she is willing to be our interim director while the search continues.

We are initially meeting every other Tuesday at a member's house until our numbers increase so we'd love to see some guests join us!

THE NEXT REHEARSAL WILL BE ON JULY 11TH
